A 2023 Frankie The Creative Update: Wowee
2023: A Year of Us
As photographers, we can only describe 2023 as a year of unprecedented wonder and amazement. The evolution of Frankie The Creative has propelled our art form and business to unimaginable heights, as we capture Adelaide in full-swing.
The emergence of innovative editing tools a la Photoshop generative fill has sent ripples through our industry. And I mean that, ripples. We’ve laughed at the majority of suggested edits that it’s made. 2023 has undoubtedly been a remarkable chapter in the history of our business, a year where our craft soared to immeasurable heights, leaving an indelible mark on our souls.
But the biggest one - we’re about to welcome our newest member - our first little one. I’m about to rattle off some of our big highlights from the year so far;
Blackchrome
We believe in the power of imagery, and our partnership with Blackchrome amplified this belief. At The Arc in Campbelltown, we brought Blackchrome's basketball apparel line to life, emphasizing intricate detailing and breathable fabrics. This endeavor mirrored Blackchrome's dedication to crafting top-tier products and experiences for athletes, both on and off the court.
Additionally, our bond with Blackchrome is deeper; our journey in soccer with the Uni Whites solidified our connection. Sean Nunan, Blackchrome's former Brand & Communications Manager, and I have shared the field for over five years. Our synchronicity on and off the pitch is evident in our successful 5aside campaigns, a testament to our synergy as a united team.
The final image, the dunk, goes hard. End of.
Hype Conference 2023
We worked with The Forward for a four-day conference for Hype orchestrated by the Accent Group - what a true marvel! Accent Group offered their retail teams an immersive brand experience that left an indelible mark. Not only did it serve as a platform to celebrate the remarkable collective and individual achievements of 2022, but it also showcased the dynamic nature of the sneaker industry. Truly fortunate to be an integral part of such a vibrant sector, supported wholeheartedly by our invaluable brand partners including New Balance, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, Conquest Sports Pty Ltd - Converse Licensee, Vans Australia / New Zealand, Reebok, ASICS Oceania, HOKA, Salomon, Sneaker LAB, Autry, Superga, Afterpay, and Lacoste. Their unwavering contribution was instrumental in making this event a resounding success!
Witness the event's exhilarating highlights in the video below, capturing the essence of the experience. As we bask in the glow of this accomplishment, our excitement is palpable for what lies ahead in 2023. The journey hopefully continues, and we're prepared to embark on new milestones and adventures with The Forward and Accent Group. 🌐

WOMAD
Womadelaide, the cherished music festival, has concluded, leaving behind everlasting memories that I, Frankie, had the privilege to capture as an official photographer. With the directive to "shoot the event through your eyes," I embarked on a journey to encapsulate the enchantment and dynamism of this four-day extravaganza.
Venturing between stages, I documented the enchanting performances of both local and international artists, spanning from soulful African drumming to contemporary dance rhythms. My lens painted a vivid picture of the diverse musical talents that graced the Womad Adelaide stages.
Beyond the music, the festival's vibrant ambiance was a pivotal focus. A multitude of individuals from various backgrounds converged to revel in their shared adoration for music and culture. As the sun dipped, the Adelaide Botanic Gardens glowed during the golden hour, a favorite spectacle of mine, evident in the captivating hues of the images. While the experience was nearly flawless, the only downside was the inevitable blisters—four days of traversing the sprawling botanic gardens can have that effect, after all!
Jetty Road x Holdfast City Bay Tourism Campaign
Stoked to be able to share this directorial ad piece finally! Working with Ben Adlington and Isaac Warren for SONDR Creative. Absolutely adored working on this one with the crew, put together so well by Benny. Frankie on stills - which will come out with time. Thanks also to Harry Graham for being set-hand!
I don’t really want to go into the details, as its more of an emotive piece that simply needs to be watched to be appreciated.
State Opera - The Marriage of Figaro
*Ahem* this was a two-day show promotional shoot, with video and photography taking place in studio and on location, at Government House - for the modern adaption of a Shakespeare inspiration - The Marriage of Figaro.
We’ve worked with Laura Danesin and Hannah Neophytou, and the larger State Opera team on a number of their productions, but this one took the cake.
We’ll add in the video once it’s live. But here’s the hero image (slightly downsampled).
AFL Gather Round
Here we go, the start of 3 events working with SATC (South Australian Tourism Commission). The first being AFL Gather Round. The inaugural year of all teams converging in one city - for us in Adelaide / Tarntanya - we were fortunate enough to be the first host!
We had a huge team of 6 people in and out of different ovals/locations across 4 days (along with work done for Seeker Agency during the period). We stood up a video for the Seeker Agency team over the period, too!
LIV Golf Adelaide
You better believe it when we say we've got LOADS to post from the LIV Golf event in Adelaide this year, with SATC.
Over the 3 days, we took thousands of photos. But these 3 are just iconic. That event. That shark. THAT hole-in-one from Chase Koepke.
We've never seen a party like it.
FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 - FIFA Fan Festival
Don’t be sad because it’s over, because it’s not - we’ve just awoken the beast of the beautiful game here in Australia. We have had the absolute privilege to work with SATC and FIFA - for the FIFA Fan Festival in Adelaide / Tarntanya.
A month of the WORLD CUP IN ADELAIDE! What a dream gig.
Football is here, and here to stay.
Kerr will be proud, Johnny Warren would be proud, Les Murray would be proud.
We’re proud of us.
What a year it’s been already.
And we have the little one to come soon, too.
