Adelaide Accommodation Photographer: Ode to the Orchard x Slow Stays Collaboration

Everyone in Adelaide is going after Airbnb properties this winter. They’re featuring heavily in South Australia Tourism Commission’s winter 2019 television commercial, across Glam Adelaide’s socials and across Adelaide’s Instagrammer community. An Airbnb stay in an greater Adelaide is one of the top things to do this winter. And Ode to the Orchard would have to be near the top of that list. And of course, we’ve stayed at a couple Slow Stays - My Sister & The Sea and HideyHole Hut

A 40-minute drive out the M1 freeway, turning off to Hahndorf will bring guests to the Lenswood Airbnb place. Driving into the property, guests pass some of the famous Lenswood apple orchards, and will see sitting aloft a perch, the cosy 1890’s cottage. Ode to the Orchard is one of the original homes of the Lenswood village, which has a sense that it plays an important part to the community as it looks over the sweeping valley.

Stepping out of the car onto the rubble walkway, winter immediately oozes out of the orchard cottage. Now what we mean is, you know those summer days when you just want to be inside, cuddled up in front of the fire? That’s what this property is all about.

The two cornerstones to the Adelaide Hills Airbnb stay is the outdoor bathtub and the wood-fired Aga oven. If you’re seeking the best outdoor bathtubs in South Australia like we are, you wouldn’t want to check out the interior first. You bypass the front door, and head around the side to examine the view from the bathtub. Hot tip: get the bath going before you drop your bags into your room - so you can jump straight in without having to wait. Hop in, wine in hand, take in the starry views at night.

The second cornerstone piece to Ode to the Orchard is the soul to the property - the vintage wood-fired Aga. The lovely owners prepare your warmth and palate in the form of ingredients and a recipe for a sensational Lenswood apple crumble. We had never used an Aga oven before, but will actively seek them out from here on, as the heat they provide on a cold night married with the flavoursome apple juice scents filtering out is simply delightful.
